Through the Lens: A Day with Obscura Photography Club at IPBU

On our fourth day at IPB University (IPBU), we had the privilege of joining the Obscura Photography Club for a hands-on photography workshop. The club’s president warmly welcomed us and introduced the fundamentals of photography, explaining how different camera settings influence the final image. We learned about aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, and how these elements work together to capture the perfect shot.

The members of Obscura were eager to share their knowledge and passion for photography. They demonstrated various techniques, such as framing, lighting, and composition, and showed us how to tell a story through a single photograph. It was inspiring to see how they used their cameras to capture the essence of everyday moments.

After the demonstrations, we had the opportunity to try our hand at photography. With the guidance of the Obscura members, we explored the campus, experimenting with different settings and compositions. It was a fun and educational experience that allowed us to see the world through a different lens.

Reflecting on the day, I was truly impressed by how IPBU nurtures and supports students’ passions beyond academics. The university provides a platform for students to explore and develop their interests through various student organizations, such as the Obscura Photography Club. This encouragement fosters creativity and personal growth, allowing students to pursue their hobbies and talents alongside their studies.
